With the new Power Assisted Liposuction, sequelae such as pain and bleeding are minimal. Skin incisions are very small indeed: 2 to 3 millimeters (1/10 of an inch). The catheter introduced under the skin is quite thin. The work is done on an even plane leaving the skin pucker-free. Patients wear special compression stockings for a few weeks after the procedure to reduce swelling.
Liposuction can be done any time of year, at any age, and in principle on any trouble-spot of the body. Most common are upper thigh, abdomen, hips, and double-chin. With good technique and a practiced operator, lipo-modelling ensues, meaning better figure proportions.
As for all elective operations, there are limits and risks that the doctor explains in detail beforehand to the prospective patient. |
